Key Signature HW Due: Monday, 3/12/12

We've been learning about key signatures this week.  I handed out a Homework sheet on Wednesday and it is due on Monday during class.  If they are confused, please remind them of these steps:

1) Look at key signature and figure out what key it is (use the sharp trick or the flat trick).

2) Look at what note the scale starts on

a)If the scale starts on the same letter name as the key signature name, you have a major scale. (ex.  If you figure out the key signature is in D major and the scale starts on a D, your answer would be D Major.)

b)If the scale starts on a different note than the key signature, you know you have some sort of a minor scale. (ex.  If you figure out the key signature is in G major, but the scale starts on an E, your answer would be E Minor.)

If your child is extra ambitious, I will be giving extra credit if he figures out what type of minor scale the minor answers are.  (Natural, Harmonic, Melodic)
